Making money secrets often come from a unique mindset or perspective. To many, its the frame of mind that one has BEFORE they walk up the path to any given home or business. The following third party story may shed some light on what actions truly result in money making secrets.
It was a brisk , cloudy morning in the fall. A ” seasoned ” salesman walked up an old country unpaved dirt path. At the end of this path was an old victorian home with a nearby barn. After knocking on the front door, an elderly, white haired lady opened the door and asked him to come inside.
She had been expecting him as she was considering a purchase of new windows. She then, graciously invited him to sit down in her living room which had previously opened mail stacked in columns on the floor and any other available space that was available. At first glance. this mail numbered in the thousands.
Then the story unfolded that while she had owned her home for over forty years, for the past couple of years she was having problems coping.
Someone had stolen her identity, her checking account was frozen, and some out of town investor was offering to purchase her home for a small fraction of what it was worth. The salesman inquired further and found out that her water had just been turned off by the utility company as she was unable to make a payment.
It was very apparent to this salesman that THE LAST THING this overwelmed old lady needed was new windows! What she needed was some help. After confirming that she had no family or neighbors to rely on, he began looking for ways he could help out while he was there.
While he had been listening to her share her frustration, an unopened dusty five gallon bottle of Sparklets water was in sight. He cleaned it off for her, opened it, and mounted it on her water dispenser. That followed with a phone call to the water company and a credit card payment to have her water turned back on. He also made some phone calls to some legal aid groups that offered to get involved to help this lady get access to her bank accounts and stop the foreclosure proceedings to her house.
The sweet old lady offered to send him some money but he would not accept any. With tears in her eyes, she gave him a big hug and thanked him with surprised appreciation that all this help came from a such an unexpected source.
The salesman left and couldn’t help wondering. What if the company had sent another salesman that was more concerned with just making the sale? What if that salesman was upset that the lead had not been qualified better? What if the salesman was more concerned about the time and money for gas that he had expended instead of treating this lady as he would a friend or member of his family?
Not long after, word had gotten out. He received a referral and subsequent purchase for an entire home of windows and sliding glass doors from an ex New York Met ballplayer. Was that coincidence or was the key to his money making secrets, PUTTING THE OTHER PERSON FIRST?
Making money secrets are often conveyed through third party stories.
